From Kobo forum - Calibre corrupts KT

The OP has posted this poll about the KT and transfer corruption involving ePUB covers.

He is completely unwilling to file a bug report or request assistance.

Perhaps someone might be able to shed some light on the situation.

I highly doubt the OP of that thread actually wants to have the issue fixed. It looks more like he just wants to bash calibre. Especially since he has posted in the calibre forum before, he didn't want to bring up the issue here nor did he want to report the issue to us in any way.

Here is a response to this very issue from the developer that maintains the Kobo interface. He was able to reproduce this issue and provides instructions for fixing it. Even if this isn't the case for the OP, well he has shown he doesn't want the issue fixed.

Oh and he also needs to make sure he is using the latest firmware revision for his device. I can't remember if it was the Kobo touch but one of the devices had a firmware update that changed the format for the database. calibre only works with the latest firmware for that particular Kobo device.

I am not bashing calibre. You have no clue as to what is going nore are you interested in seeing the facts.

You guys all say the same thing reconvert reconvert reconvert...

bottom line is that the books all show covers only after a facotry reset and calbire has no intereaction with the touch every time.

And you wonder why there are many people here frustrated with guys like you who think they are the end all of end all solutions?

So to justify your thoughts you randomly say oh hes a calibre basher.... dude the only one who is a basher of any thing is your self just so that you may build your self esteem up... so koodos to you for your self esteem.

bottom line open your eyes and pay attention the logic.

Learn to read. Your issue can be reliably reproduced by using a third party USB cable. Plenty of people are using the Kobo touch without issue.

At no point have you asked for help and when given advice about how to get help you refused. My advise to you is to go F yourselves and don't use calibre.

2. excitedly push 2000+ books to the device from calibre... covers randomly appear..

3. delete the books using calibre fromt he touch.

4. reset the touch, start all over push the same 2000+ books to the device from calibre.. wiat 45 mins to process the books.

5. post on forum regarding the issue.. told to reconvert the files.. do that.. same result no covers.

6. Forced a factory reset.. on the touch.. wait for the touch to repocess the books onthe sd card . Succeess covers are there !!!!!

7. Add the books from the New York times best seller list to calibre.. eidt the books to ensure the correct meta data is there and the covers are as well.
explode each book, and look to see if cover is there.

8. connect calibre to the touch....wait for calibre to do it things.. 15 mins later
push the new books to the touch. Wait for calibre to finish it thing.. 15 more mins later.

9. wait for the touch to process the new books...

10. pull hair out as the covers are not there they are blanks.

11.. force a factory reset wait 45 mins for touch to process all over again.. notice the covers are all there on the books pushed from calibre...

12.. ponder the significance of this event.

13 realize that every time calibre is used problem arise..

14 take calibre out of the equation in placing books on the touch.. leaving calibre to just process books and save to folder on the computer..

15. exit calibre, connect the touch, drag and drop books from saved folder to the sd card on the touch.. eject the touch.. wait for it to process the books

16 notice the covers show up the first time...

17. reconnect calibre to the touch... send a few books over.

18. after touch process the books no covers... again.

19. factory reset... wait touch out book covers are showing on the new books.

20. Final move to not allow calibre to comunicate with the touch till the driver is sorted out.

Those are the facts

your an idiot I use the kobo cable it. it is the driver and calibre. plain and simple. Btw USB CALBES ARE MADE ON A STANDARD< that means they are the same. I guarntee that KOBO buys the cable from a supplier who offers the best price.

Regardless you are quite frankly wrong and time to get that through you small narrow minded view.

Oh and yes I have followed the advice ... reconverting does not work...

what part did you missread about that?

There is a considerable amount of variation in cables which can lead to varying levels of voltage going over them. Not to mention not all cables are the same. Such as the Nook Color which has an extra charging pin.

Now go away as your not wanted here. I will reiterate my advise, don't use calibre.
