Audio-Books with PB603 pro - NewPlayer - MP3
Hi you other Pocketbook Users out there,
i'm a proud owner of a PB603 pro (FW_2_0_6). Everything works fine except the MP3-Player. You have to click n click n click .... There is no built in possibility to select folders and tell the player to just play all files in this particular folder. A feature, that even the cheapest Mp3-Player has. Mostly we are looking for this, because we want to play Audio-Books via the Player. But with the existing player this doesn't make any sense....... you have to click every track at least once to get it to play. Most Audio-Books have over 60 Tracks...... Another reason is that me and my wife are both using the PB. Eyveryone has his own music-folder, because we just have a different taste of music ![]() ![]() Is there anyone out there who has same problem and any idea how to work arround? The great Thread of user review, where he showed us how to learn the PB to play webradio made me install the mplayer. Maybe someone knows how i can manage it to build a start App for the player, which i place in every Audio-Book Folder and start the playback of all files in this particular folder. Or something else, all ideas are very welcome...... Hopefully there is a Pocketbook developer out there who is reading this post and maybe there is a way to implement that in the new firmware. |

If someone does pick this up, i hope they make a version for all new models not just those with a touch screen.
The built-in player is sorely lacking for a player that was promoted to be able to play audio-books. A player that plays audio-books should be able to: 1) select more than an individual file to open. 2) remember the playlist between sessions. 3) remember the position in the playlist between sessions. 4) remember the position in the current file in the current playlist between sessions. Without all those things: Someone is either assuming you'll listen to a whole book without stopping or that you'll memorize your exact position in the book. Not cool pocketbook, I specifically took into account the promised ability to play audio-books when I decided to buy my 602. |

I do not have the 903 with me at the moment, and I am not a great user of audiobooks, but I did play around with it a little bit, and I am pretty sure that it does remember the last position - but I am on firmware 2.1.1, and also going by my own memory!
It'll be a week before I'll be back home to try it - but if there are specific operations you want me to try, I'll be happy to do so and report back, so you can judge whether it is worth flashing the beta firmware. |

1) See if it'll let you open a folder or select more than one file. 2) See if it'll remember the playlist after you turn it off. 3) See if it'll remember the last open file and the position in it after you turn it off. |

So in short, things do not look good, but I'll keep testing, as I suspect there may be some combination of actions that will make it remember - though, ti is stil a hope right now. |

Hi there,
i like to warm this up. Is there any effort regarding another mp3 player for the pro-models in meantime? My player (and e-book-reader) is freezing, when I put an SD-Card in. Even if the SD-Card contains no music at all. Probably the device is searching and searching and never comes to an end, because the 16GB card contains to much data? I see, the software uses the MAD mpeg audio decoder and there is a real big list of applications using this on their webpage ( http://www.underbit.com/products/mad ). Does anybody know, what the software of the player is? It seams to be a Pocketbook development. Probably one could compile something from an existing open source arm project? I would say that it is something built by PB themselves since the GUI is based on libInkview. I vaguely remember looking for the source code last year, but couldn't find it. So, I think something completely new would be required as a replacement.
As far as coming up with something better, it wouldn't be easy if it used the inkview library, as well. There is no file chooser in the GUI; only a directory chooser. There is also no way to pick multiple objects with any of the existing dialogs. So, I think the best would be a new app that you could pick a directory with and then start playing all the music files inside. Maybe madplay could be cross-compiled for playing the music. It can be arbitrarily started at any point in time in a collection of music, and shows how much time elapsed when you stop it playing, so picking up at the same place in an audiobook shouldn't be too hard to program. |

it seams that it's not very hard to made wrapper for mpg123. may be I'll try to wrote it next week. |
