On the K3, the books are arranged in one of 4 ways:
1. Most recent first. 2. Title 3. Author 4. Collections - with this selected Collections are at the top in "most recent first" order. Any books not in the collection will be shown under all of the collections in "most recent first" order. |

1. Select a book on the home screen. To do that, move the d-pad until the heavy bold line is below the book title. Press the d-pad to the right. It will give the title of the book and the cover. The heavy bold line will be under "Add to Collection..." Press that and it will take you to your collections. You will also have the option to create a new collection.
2. From the home screen, press menu. Select "Create New Collection" Type the collection name, then select save. It will take you to your books and you just need to select the books to go into that collection. This is a good option for moving a lot of books into a collection at once. Also, books can be in more than one collection at a time. I hope this helps. |

The original question, and using Alissa's excellent little freebie MobiHandler covered elsewhere in this forum, actually suggest what would be a great improvement in the next-generation Kindle: enabling covers to be shown in the listings.
Contrary to the old idiom, you CAN (often) judge a book by looking at its cover, and it would be really useful to see covers when scrolling through your lists to decide on your next read! |

As long as it was only an option; showing covers would dramatically reduce the number of books you'd see on a single page, which isn't something I'd like.

Not to mention, there might be a book or two in there you won't want the cover to be shown (especially as a screen saver).
You can make them small enough to easily get the same number of books on a page - but covers that are not well designed would be very difficult to read/determine the title. |

I've always been jealous of the interface of the Nook with its book cover images. I was disappointed when the Kindle 3 interface was 90% text. I would like an option at least to list as book covers for the next Kindle (probably a touchscreen).

I would love this feature, it is perhaps the only thing that would make me buy a non-Kindle as I often remember covers better than titles, and it would really help as you can often tell the genre of a book by it's cover and this is what I want when browsing my Kindle. I would love to use collections to do this but it seems too much of a hassle and someone once said that it reduces space or battery life or something but I can't quite remember.

I wish someone could develop a hack to show covers on the home screen.

Actually it may possible to have it; but it would involve hacking the software.
Or having to manually add each book to one great "book" for indexing. You could just try doing hyperlinks with an .html And each hyperlink would be an image, which leads to the actual book. That way you can browse through an index where you only see the books cover. But a nice standardization of the image size format would be good, though. Let's say that a 3x3 grid would work ok; so max width =150; and max height = 250 (150*250). I "randomly" picked 9 book covers, when all were adjusted to 150 width, every each of them would have a height less that 250! Kindle screen is 600x800: 3*150 = 350 3*250 = 750 Leaving 150 width for margins and 50 heaight for header and footer. As an example of what it could look like: ![]() Not bad, uh? EDIT: I think we should ask the "Developer corner" in Kindle subforum. Im 90% sure the image is sized as "Real size"; maybe a lilttle bit bigger. [im on a 1280*1024 screen] EDIT N°2: @HarryT: NOt really; if the idea proposed works; it would be very similar. Kindle (or at least my K3) shows 10 books per page. With this 3*3 grid you get 9 books a page. Last edited by Rainmaker; 07-29-2011 at 12:22 AM. |

How do you add a hyperlink between books?
