newbie questions about Kindle 3G

I don't have a Kindle yet. I plan to order the 3G version soon.

After browsing this website and reading the FAQ section, I stiil have a few
newbie questions:

(1) does Amazon guarantee free 3G access "forever"(downloding books,
simple internet browsing, checking Gmail, etc)?

(2) can I put non-DRM books(PDF, MOBI, or EPUB converted to MOBI,
from non-Amazon sources on the Kindle? If so, can Amazon see which
such books are on my Kindle? Obviously Amazon knows what books I've
bought from them. I just want to know if they can monitor what I read.

(3) the sound from the headphone jack... is it mono or stereo?

(4) can the Kindle ignore the font colors specified on websites? (i.e. make them
all black for easier reading) I can do this on my IE browser on my PC.

(5) can the Kindle connect to the internet in foreign countries that use GSM?

(6) since the Kindle can browse the internet, can it be affected by viruses?

Thanks very much for your help!

Nothing is forever. Everyone's TOS are "subject to change". That being said, I don't see anyone offering anything better, and there are no indications that there's any changes coming.

Can you put other books on your Kindle, from non-Amazon sources? Certainly.
Can Amazon tell? Probably, if you connect up to them. But honestly, they don't CARE.

Stereo, I think. Honestly haven't paid attention, since I mostly listen to Audible books on it, where it wouldn't matter.

It appears to. But keep in mind that the Kindle browser is pretty basic.

Yes.

Probably. But given that it has a propietary OS, you'd need a virus that is targetted to Kindle, and I don't see that as real likely.

Not sure about the other points, but I know for sure you can put PDFs on the Kindle 3G. Sometimes though certain characters might appear messed up when viewing a PDF on the Kindle.

Additionally, for two of your questions, they just struck a deal with AT&T support for a lower price and they announced that 3G users read 20% more books. I would have to assume they plan to keep 3G for a while. Plus they will take a lot of heat if they are still advertising "3G for life".

Non-black colors on the browser come through as lighter grey shades; harder to read but not a big problem.
