Can NetHack be played on the Kindle?

I thought NetHack would be awesome on the Kindle. Is there a way to get it running?

Sorta kinda. You can e.g. install the standalone terminal app, get a Debian install (the self-contained disk image one is nice, since it doesn't interfere with anything else, and install NetHack via apt-get. The controls make it a bit hard to play, and the font makes the game board tiny. It would be awesome if there were a Kindle-optimized version of NetHack available.

That's what I'm thinking. I don't have any programming experience, but maybe it would be a cool project/a way to learn

Exclamation Let's play NetHack on Kindle!!!

Having NetHack on my kindle would be a dream made true! Though If someone could help me with the steps to port it to my DX I would gladly appreciate it.

Question: Do you still think the fonts will be too small to play it? I'm willing to learn all the necessary steps to modify it for the kindle, as I think NetHack is the best and ONLY truly deep dungeon crawl worth of having on the Kindle. I would do the sacrifice for the the rest of the community, just tell me which way to go, what language to learn and I'll do it (I would even pay if someone else wants to do it for me!)

I think this is a project we would all benefit from. Let us try to push it it through, so we can get a fully functional Nethack working on our favorite reading device! As I said I have the motivation but not the knowledge to do it...

Thank you in advance.

Hi, I found a way to run nethack on my old Kindle that many people actively use nowadays.

https://www.timelesssky.com/blog/nethack-for-kindle

But after some time playing with the PW1, the controls to move the character became not much intuitive.

So after a research, I found Nethack for Android. There is a fixed directional and a row of most useful commands and some adaptations, like the option to kick a door when it's locked, automating the need to ctrl+d or k and choose direction. https://github.com/gurrhack/NetHack-Android

I tried to bring to kindle but with no success, with some luck someone can bring this improvement to us.

I use this forum a lot of years, but only now there were the need to contribute, so thank you for all people that bring help, specially the developers!
