Disconnecting after USB charging
First, I apologise in advance if I use the wrong terminology or if this is a really stupid question!
I always charge using the USB cable and having thoroughly read all the posts on here about the dangers of not disconnecting properly, I click the icon in the taskbar - it says 'Safely Remove Hardware' when the cursor hovers over it. But there are two different ways of doing this depending on whether I use a single or double click on the icon. 1. If I click the icon once, a box pops up that says ' Safely remove USB mass storage device - Drives (F:,G:,H:,I)'. If I click inside that box a window opens telling me it is safe to remove the device. 2. If I double click the icon in the taskbar a small window opens that lists devices to stop. In this case it only has 'USB Mass Storage Device' so I click the stop button and then I get a list of the Drives (F to I) but can only click on one drive to stop it before getting the message Safe to Remove Hardware. So, which is the best method to use to disconnect/safely remove the reader (single or double click on icon) or does it not matter? Thanks for reading, I hope I have explained clearly. Oh, I only have 78 books on the reader, all on the main memory and there are no other memory cards installed or formatted. I should also tell you that I disabled the option for the Reader Library to open automatically whenever I connect the reader. |

They are the same.
Double clicking allows you to stop one device in a set, like removing a memory card from the reader. You can pick the higher level device (all the drives) and stop that, instead of going each drive individually. |

You can also use the Reader Library to eject the reader. Just click on the little eject symbol next to the reader entry in that list to the left.

Pinecone: thanks for the reassurance, I will continue to use the single click as it is quicker.
Scalyfreak: thank you, I'm happy with the eject process when I'm using the Reader Library but I didn't understand what was happening if I recharged the reader without opening the library. |

I get the same thing with both a single or double click - I have to eject READER and SETTING separately. I guess I must be doing something wrong. It does have "Sony Digital Book Reader" above these but it's grayed out.
