Reading in browser
Hi
Apologies if this has been raised before and please point me to the relevant thread if its a duplicate. Sometimes I need to refer my book library on the go and my IT department won't let me install any reader on my machine. Is there a way to read the books online using the browser? I have got my books in mobi / kindle format. Last I heard about kindle for web was in Dec'11 but no further news on it. Similarly those books are not available in google ebook store so no hope there. Thanks a lot for your help! din |

There's the EpubReader plugin for Firefox, but I'm not aware of anything similar for Mobi format...
https://www.mobileread.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=211 You say you can't install a reader, but what about running something from a USB flash drive? For example Calibre has a portable version (and has a reader as a part of it)... http://calibre-ebook.com/download_portable |

Are these work-related books? Perhaps you can talk IT into letting you install a reader program for work-related books (like O'Reilly computer books, for example).

Yes, these are work related and I asked them kindle but apparently they don’t allow anything apart from the standard inventory. Problem is that it doesn't stop my work if I can't access those books (I just google it) but a standard book reference feels much more comfortable.
