I just updated and now I can't download metadata or covers. Suggestions?

Looks like something (probably firewall software) is blocking Calibre's attempts to access the Internet.

That was my thought too. I don't know why it suddenly happened. The only thing I have done differently is upgrade. I guess it must be in the UVerse router or something

I fixed it. Odd fix though. I unchecked use proxy in MS internet explorer (which I never use) and restarted calibre and it works fine now

Even if you are not using IE, the proxy settings are still relevant as they are a global setting that is used by Calibre.

I think I read something in the What's New notes with one of the recent Calibre releases to display somewhere in Calibre the proxy settings that are being used to make it easier to debug such scenarios.
