Request Pocket Edge Sound Problems

I searched the forums for a similar post/solution but had no luck so here is my problem.

Bought a pocket edge from woot last week, it does what I expected it to. However after (roughly) a half hour of use, all sound generated by the device abruptly stops. At first I had thought that processor load might have had something to do with it because I noticed it when I was first loading software and configure the device. However my tests today show it to simply be a matter of time.

The cut-out occurs with either headphones or the internal speaker. I have yet to try it with my bluetooth car stereo, but that should be interesting.

I un-installed any applications I thought might possibly cause issues such as superbox and task-killer pro but it has made no difference. I also reflashed 2.2.

The only thing that fixes it is a reboot. At which point I hear some sort of re-initialisation click come through the speakers during the loading process, and they begin working again.

I should mention this is a rooted PE running ermine 2.2 beta. I haven't even done anything interesting to it yet, besides a different launcher, which I seriously doubt could be responsible.

Any input would be greatly appreciated, especially if you've experienced this problem yourself and have a solution. One major intent for this device was to play amazon cloud/pandora music, and as it stands it's failing at that.

Yours is the first I've heard of a sound problem. The first thing I think of is problems with the hinge and wiring. I certainly hope it is not that, because if it is you would want to exchange it for another unit from Woot.

Anybody else have ideas??

That type of problem is one of those that get put into the 'try this and report' basket usually because they can't be reproduced and can have many causes, some of which don't even appear related in any way.

Of all the apks I had loaded immediately after flashing to 2.2, I'd have never believed that Google Docs would have been the one to cause audio problems. I removed Google Voice Search, Pandora, even Amazon App store but not once did I suspect Docs; which I had never actually launched.

So of course that was the problem.

Unfortunately I had planned on using Google Docs, coupled with swiftkey to do some light writing on my pocket edge. I do this on both my 10" and 4" androids with pretty decent results. I guess I still have to carry one of those if I plan on doing any writing. Maybe I'll try the edge's office suite out, but that seems like a step backwards for me.

No Google Docs - I am disappoint.

Anyway I've since played the contents of my entire Amazon cloud drive back to back without an issue, I think the problem is officially solved.

I see your problem is corrected; in the archive two users "Dusty22" and "attemptress" had similar issues. In post #7 'attemptress' explains a solution.
