Transferring books to iPad

I have an iPad Mk2 & I'm using Calibre to convert from MOBI to EPUB format. No problem with the conversion. However, no "Send to Device" logo is displayed on the Toolbar & if I try & drag the file on to my iPad I get the message "(Path & bookname) does not seem to be a valid Podcast URL. Please check that you have entered the correct URL & try again." My laptop recognises my iPad as it shows all my iTunes & apps & syncs these fine. Under Preferences, Interface, Toolbar I have tried to select "Main toolbar when device is connected" & then dragged across the "Send to Device" logo but the "Apply" button is greyed out. I cannot get this toolbar to appear on the main screen. Anyone got any ideas why I can't transfer the books to my iPad? All help gratefully received.

Hi John

Have you tried Sending Books to Devices settings in the preferences panel? Mine is set to automatic.

If you don't get an answer soon try reposting in the Calibre forum.

Hi Wannabee,

Yup - I've tried that but it doesn't make any difference. In Preferences, do you know how to change from "Main Toolbar" to "Main Toolbar when a device is connected?" It doesn't seem to change when I go back to the main screen.
