Newbie Introduction

Hello All,

My Introductory post, just joined an wondered what experiences people were having and what's current. Additionally I purchased an ELONEX 621EB from Waterstones today @ £79.99.

I'm not sure how I'm going to take to reading off a device rather that a book, so I thought this was the least costly way to try it out. Opted for an Eink device rather that Ipaq, Ipod touch or laptop where I find it a little difficult to focus on the story line, we'll see how this goes.

Currently the device is on charge, however I had read a few adverse reviews about this device freezing etc, although the device needs charging I did turn it on and the screen is a series of lines !!!!!! we'll see how this goes once it's full charged.

Although the screen isn't currently ledgible the device connects to my laptop and the memory is vissible, I have moved a few epub files across to the device ready for when/if it springs to life.

I'm impressed with the free CALIBRE, book management program for the PC, I'd downloaded a number of ePub and PDF files which I'd organised and was pleasently surprised to see that it intergarted with the device, so that I can upload and remove books/files from the eReader via the Calibre library interface, mkes things very simple.

I'm a major Sci Fi reader and I'd acquired a number of Science Fiction Books in ePub format which again was a consideration in taking the step to buy an eReader. Ideally I's have liked an cheap A4 sized eInk screen in colour, but this a a couple of years away yet.

Well that's my introduction, I'll update this thread when I know the Elonex is or isn't fully working.

Good to have your company, 80 (let's not stand on formality and use second names, too). Luck with the new device, but if you hit any hitches, you'll soon find dedicated sub forums here for a quick fix. Happy reading and best wishes. Neil
