Kobo only works which charging

I'm having a problem with my Kobo. The pages stopped turning a few days ago, and I assumed the battery had died. I had read several books on it without charging, so it made sense. I'm currently traveling, so I plugged it into the wall with my iPod charger.

It won't charge. I'm able to read normally while it's plugged in, so I know it's getting a charge, but as soon as I unplug it, it stops working again. It's been plugged in for over 24 hours, and no blue light yet.

I tried the reset button at the back and nothing at all happened. I'm reluctant to reset back to factory from the menu because without access to a computer while traveling, I'll lose my books. I find the wifi doesn't work very well....

Any suggestions?

With the Kobo plugged in, you are bypassing the battery entirely and reading off of the power coming out of the outlet. I am betting that your battery is NOT charging.

Do you happen to have another cable that you can try to recharge the device? Also some adapters might not work with the Kobo ereader I did also find that on occation some USB ports had issues with dead ports

Is the USB port you are trying to charge from part of an unpowered USB hub (or the keyboard if using a Mac)?

If so trying plugging the Kobo into a USB directly on your computer or into powered USB hub (if you have one).
