Transferring new cover to device

I use Calibre to store Mobipocket format books for my Kindle.

When I edit the a book's metadata in Calibre and then send the book to the Kindle, the Kindle shows the metadata I've set in Calibre. However, if I change the book's cover image in Calibre, the Kindle still displays the original cover, not the one that I've chosen.

Am I doing something wrong, or can Calibre not change a book's cover image for a Mobipocket book?

You often need to run a mobi->mobi conversion to get a cover to be recognised. Note however that it is not possible to run a conversion of the book is DRM protected.
