Development Ermine Apps

First I'd like to say thanks, these forums have been very helpful. I'd like to start a dedicated thread for Ermine apps alone stating which apps have been found to be compatible and which ones haven't. I've also found that android games from the market are pretty much unplayable because of slow frame rates. I'm not sure if this is an Ermine limitation or a pocket edge cpu limitation. I have stared apps which I think are must haves. I will also edit this first post to take into account any additions other people make.

Compatible Apps:

*Amazon market - a place to get android applications

*Opera Mini 6 - Alternative internet browser (other browsers I hear work too)
Dolphin Browser HD - Alternative Browser
*FlexT9 Text Input - swype like keyboard and an improvement of the stock keyboard.
*pulse news reader - excellent news aggregate
NewsRob - News Reader
*Facebook - Mobile interface to facebook
Sketch book mobile - Basically a sketchbook application which is very nice (slow)
Fring - IM chat client for facebook, msn, google talk, etc..
Adobe Flash 10.1 - Flash support

Yes, Flash 10.1.61.68 Installed. It works on some websites through the browser. The Hulu website even loads flash content but I can't access the videos because they detect I'm on mobile. Also some Flash games I tried work but are pretty slow an unusable.

Good idea, thanks for the list! Links would be nice to have, whenever possible. Not that we can't google the links, or search the appstores on our own, but it's nice to have all the info right here!

I use Fancy Widget Pro on mine and it works just fine. It's the paid one from Amazon.
I don't think the Weather will ever work if that's what's not working, as there is no Location awareness on this device. So, just use the clock widget, and it works just like normal.

I haven't tried Flight Control yet, but it sounds like it would be fun on the larger screen. I've collected nearly all the Free Paid Apps of the Day so far

Looking at your other apps, Instead I use NewsRob for my news reader and Dolphin Browser HD

also it doesn't like MKV files, it plays them, but its just not powerful enough to keep up, DivX files play great though.

Did you download the older version as noted by bishopxi? He had version 10.1.61.68 installed. I installed it on both EE and PE. It installs and works.

I just used the link above and it was a newer version. I googeled the old version, downloaded it and it installed just like that!
Can't wait to get home to my WiFi and check it out.

I was able to get Flash 10.1 installed a few weeks back ago, but I haven't had much luck with it. There is a web browser called Skyfire that has built in Flash support that I tried and will play Flash Video but, I couldn't get the buffer window to go away. http://www.entourageedge.com/forums/...ighlight=flash

I was able to get Epocrates working once I grabbed the apk out of my phone.

OISafe works too. It's a good password locker type app.

In general, the OI series of apps work well and do useful stuff.

Unless otherwise noted, all were dl'd through the Amazon App Store.

GDocs v. 8.14 - this was a PITA to find just the APK for but I found it here: http://www.freeware4android.net/htc-...get-20714.html Midway down the page on the right is 'Download GDocs for the HTC Hero' - that version works perfectly. I love this program. It allows offline editing of Google Documents and syncs when you have a connection again.

Does Not Work (or, I cannot make it work and have given up in frustration):
Google Books Android APK - installs, but when opened says '0 Google Account' and there's no option to add one - won't synch through the PE.
TweetDeck - even the older version.
Google Docs - sort of. If I need to read a document, it works fine. It does not allow me to edit a document at all. Caveat: I have the same issue with my mobile phone, so it's not an Entourage issue. And I have a slide-out keyboard on my phone, still won't work, so it isn't a touchscreen keyboard issue.
Any of the main free barcode scanners - they install and open and a second later they force close. No error note. The few whose apps have worked, the camera on the Edge is so crappy that it can't read barcodes anyway. QR Android lets you load from saved images (and is one of two apps that didn't crap itself the minute I tried to open it after install), so in theory you could take a pic with your phone or camera, email or dropbox it to your PE and open it that way. Found this out looking for the GDocs apk - everywhere I went directed me to either the barcode or the Android Market. Grrr!
