Aside from size
If I fall in love with my PE, and ran into a regular edge somewhere semi-affordable on clearance, would it be worth buying? Aside from size, what can the edge do that the pocket edge can't that's exciting?
Or is it not worth it because of known battery issues and no replacement batteries readily available? |

I have both an EE and a PE. The PE is ok, especially when out and about, but cant beat the size of the EE for reading pdf's and much better for taking notes than the EE.

If you have a PE, then getting an EE is like driving a Volkswagen Bug and upgrading to a Lincoln Continental
![]() ![]() It has no different features, and actually the speakers aren't as good in the EE as they are in the PE. Don't worry about the battery - the EE battery likely will last a good 3 years, too. Last edited by borisb; 05-07-2011 at 10:11 AM. |

Is there any known location for batteries at this point and time? Are they really all gone for good at this point? I guess one can always try to buy an EE from Ebay on the cheap for an extra battery, but one never knows how many "hours" have been put on it - but at least you'd have a back-up of some kind. I would assume that if batteries were made that everyone who reads this forum would be shopping today.

Some people say some of the European eDGe sellers have them and will ship to the US (see the "Devices" tab on th enTourage web site). Other than that, you might find the odd battery still in stock at smaller electronics retailers that carry the eDGe, or possibly college/university computer stores. You can also wait for one to appear for sale on eBay.
There's no indication any enTourage products are being manufactured anymore, so inventories will dwindle to zero and after that continue as resale of used items. |

The nice thing about the EE is that if you can find extra batteries, you are so set. The EE's batteries last longer on a single charge than the PE (the batteries are bigger) AND you can have a spare battery on you for double the time. I love this.
The downside, of course, is it's big and bulky (think netbook) compared to the PE and you won't take it everywhere. But if you already have a PE, I guess that's not too much of an issue. The screen size for journal/pdfs is excellent. I still haven't seen a PE in person, but I can't imagine dropping down in size. (I don't have a daily commute nor much of a need to have it on me when I'm out and about, so my edge may accompany me on longer trips, but it doesn't come out to play too often. |

I agree with all of the above, I'm totally lost without my full size EE. The PE is cute and portable, but no workhorse for sure. Even after a year my EE battery still held it's full charge too; so don't worry much about the battery.

The EE has 2 USB ports, 2 microphones, and uses an SD card instead of a micro-SD card. Also, it has a trackball instead of an optical mouse thingy. That's according to the specs here: http://www.entourageedge.com/skin/fr...fo%20Sheet.pdf.
Sadly, I only have the PE. ![]() ![]() |
