Disaster

My EE refuses to unlock, the touch screen is totally non-responsive. I am running the Golden update now in the hope that it is software and not hardware related.
As an aside my new PE awakens from hibernation with what other forum members call the "white screen of death". I let it go dark and press menu again and the screen shows normally.

My PE did the same thing once not long after I upgraded to Ermine, but I haven't had it happen with the EE. On the PE, a hard shutdown fixed it and returned it to normal. Did pulling the EE battery do nothing?

No - I restarted and pulled the battery multiple times with no response. The touch screen was totally non-responsive.

Well, that's unpleasant! Are you going to stay with Dingo after the golden update or try going from that "clean slate" back to Ermine?

Assuming the touch screen is not dead I'll probably run the ermine update again.

I've had an unresponsive screen once or twice (can't remember if it was my EE or PE). A moment of panic, and then I reset/rebooted it and it was fine again. This is before Ermine, btw.

And the answer is it's the hardware. The update/downgrade finished and the screen jumps around a bit like a jumping bean, but no joy opening any app or menu item.

By chance do you have a SD card in your EE? I had the exact same symptoms occur earlier last week (unable to unlock EE) and realized it was the SD card. Once I removed it, the EE "came back to life". Reformatted SD on the pc and it works again in the EE.

My son says he has never seen a white screen pop up at all on his PE. I too have seen this on my PE. However, I'm hoping it is not a sign of things to come like one time it might just stuck on the WOSD. If there is a way to disable the hibernation I would like to know.

pablodamascono tried it under Development Tools (Stay awake) but he reported that it didn't work.

The system is reverted to Dingo - no lock screen. The SD card is out, there is no response to any touch, however, when I fold the edge occasionally the Add To Home Screen Menu pops up - suggesting the wires in the hinge are toast.

Okay, now I'm scared. There's no way to spin that into happy times.

That's true, luckily I have a laptop to fill in for reading and the PE - which I'm not feeling so good about now. However there will be products to approximate the edge functions soon enough.

wow.
what products are you talking about? I'd like to get a headstart on researching the e background of the company before this product hits the market.
