Problem with my eink screen

I have something odd going on with my eink. On the far right side for about an inch all the print seems faded or washed away. Refresh, multiple times, does not usually help. Turning the page fixes temporally. There are a series of ghostlike, alternating black and white stripes visible in that inch as well. When I move the page all the way to the left the letters are fully formed, the stripes on the right are more pronounced. Exiting the book leaves my screensaver - with stripes and a ghost like impression of the words. Look here for pictures http://db.tt/X5kbSmc taken on my phone and enhanced with a scanner app. Any ideas? Failing eink charge?

I'm obviously not familiar enough with how eInk screens die, but that sure doesn't look like a software issue. If a power off/on doesn't help, then it sounds like Tech Support are the ones you want to talk to...

I contacted tech already. I did try a power off, yesterday, the sreensaver came back without a ghost after power up but as soon as I opened a book it returned. EPUB does seem affected - it does not utilize that outside inch of the screen. But those Ghost stripes show on the cover when I first open it.

Cheyenne, didn't you mention another problem with your eink screen just a few weeks ago? Ghosting? The problem seems to be escalating. I'm beginning to sound like a broken record, but did you try recalibrating?

Yes, I have tried recalibrating. It does not seem to help with the ghosting either.

Hmmm...I hope tech support is able to provide a solution quickly.

Recalibration I think is for stylus issues, not for display problems...

When you "contacted tech support", you mean you submitted a Help Request, or spoke with someone directly? If the latter, did they not immediately recommend an RMA?

No, the women I spoke to said she would escalate to tier 3 support and I would be contacted.

Really? It has no effect on the display? Because right after dingo launched, I was having a problem with ghosting, which got significantly better after I recalibrated the screen, which is what tech support suggested I try.

Yes, calibration is for the accurate detection of the stylus (or your finger on the LCD). Calibration involves clearing the eInk though, which is perhaps why the ghosting disappeared. eInk needs a bit of exercise for smooth operation it seems. So, in that sense calibration may help resolve ghosting, but only because the screen is being set/reset.

Hi Cheyennedonna, what about a PDF that fills the screen? Is the print affected on the right side or does the PDF adjust as well?

Thanks

Micheal

Thanks for the explanation.
