Deleting an App?

How do you delete an app? I installed one that it turns out I don't want, but I can't figure out how to get rid of it now. I click and hold it, and a garbage can appears at the bottom, and I drag the unwanted app there, the garbage can turns red... so I release the app, but in doesn't actually delete... am I missing something?

go to settings, then applications, then manage applications
from there you can select the app, and then click uninstall.

casualt Edge User	go to settings, then applications, then manage applications from there you can select the app, and then click uninstall.
