About to pull the trigger

The subject heading sounds like a threat, but it isn't intended that way. I really need to annotate PDFs stylusly plus do light netbook types of things (e-mail, ssh things), and there's nothing else either existing or announced that will work. I'm a little dismayed at the lack of an sdk and release notes for the latest OS version, plus the hardware is clunky and will never run Honeycomb, although I'm guessing Honeycomb is itself is going to be a bit clunkier than people think.

Anyway, what I'm even more distressed about is the very dull naming system for the OS versions. Coyote and Dingo are fine, since they're dogs which are honorary reptiles, but Ermine is just a boring little weasel that isn't even edible. There were much finer animals available - couldn't they even name it Elligator? Anyway, for the future, I would hope that they choose a greater variety of more general interesting animals. Exx:

Fat-tailed gecko or Flying gecko
Gold dust gecko (not "GEICO gecko"; might be issues with trademark infringement)
House gecko
Indo-pacific gecko
Jaragua gecko
Kuhl's gecko
Leopard gecko
Madagascar day gecko (the model for the GEICO gecko; please note that the cartoon version isn't as cute as the real ones)

How could they possibly argue with logic like that?

The first one was armadillo, by the way, followed by badger.

Someone from enTourage once admitted the naming convention is roadkill. "Dull" no so much as "morbid"

I was hoping ermine would have been elan, but oh well. Next OS should be ferret or falcon. Or maybe firefly.

I kinda like 'ferret' for the f word.... It sort of fits the Edge. And, no, I don't mean that! I mean like in 'ferreting out information.'

Armadillos get a lot of credit, since they're trying to be reptiles. As everyone in Texas knows, they're born dead by the side of the road. (So I was told by a Texan.) If the others are roadkill as well (coyote?!), then it's be pointless to name them after geckos. But where is ermine roadkill? I think only in semi-mythical places, such as Canada. For those with a biological (as opposed to a culinary) interest in roadkill, I highly recommend a field guide such as http://socuteurl.com/freshywishypup

If it has to be roadkill, then Flying Fish would be spectacular in its own way.

Of course the field guide isn't an eBook - if it were an eBook, you'd run the risk of having your eBook reader destroyed during field reseach.
