Question How do you clear all the stored memory from an Edge?

Hi all! I hope that you're all having a relaxing Saturday, wherever you are located. Back home, in Minnesota, they're receiving a wholloping good snow storm; here in Michigan, we're 63 and cloudy.

I'm using this weekend to try out my pocket Edge and see if I'm up to snuff with owning it. In truth, I thought that I was buying the full-sized Edge (rather than the pocket version) because of unclear advertizing at HSN. So, I have to find out if the smaller version will work out as well as I want it to, to promote my landscape business.

As I try different features from calendar, photos, and non-sensitive documents, is there a SURE FIRE way to wipe the entire memory out of what I've put in (including passwords) if I decide to return the pocket Edge in favour of the larger Edge?

I know that there's a teeny-tiny "Reset" button on top that I'm guessing you use a bent paper clip to press in but I'm not sure if that cleans everything off the machine and has it return to pristine "no personal information" history.

I've still got the rest of today and all of tomorrow to try out my bitsy Edge but I want to make sure I'm protected and safe if I end up returning it.

Thanks to all who help me with this.

Hi Bee,

Yes you can wipe the memory clean by following these instructions. You cannot recover from this, so make sure you are serious about doing this before you do it.

From the home page, press the Menu button. Choose "Settings" and then "Device Storage" from the resulting menus. Scroll to the very bottom of the storage menu and choose "Restore Factory Defaults" at the bottom. Follow the instructions and the device will be wiped clean.

Bless you, don'tpanic, for those very clear directions!

I had initially wanted the full-sized Edge. For the $150.00 difference, I'm trying to come to terms with whether I should keep the pocket size or commit to the larger one and get what I initially fell in love with. I don't fault HSN at all, but the term "pocket" was placed deep into the description of the product; their header for the items was "Entourage Edge"...the word "pocket" wasn't until 3/4's of the way down the page, I discovered, only upon receiving the unit.

When I have client meetings, I wanted/needed to make a WOW! statement; not sure that the tiny pocket-version makes that same impact. ~shrug~ Plus, many of my client's are 70+ years old so the larger the screen, the easier it will be for them to view the photos or blueprints that I'm showing them. My 17" SONY laptop sure delivers that impact but I can't afford a personal sherpa to drag that thing around with me, all day. LOL

I have the full-size EE, and I find it to be a very nice balance: large enough to be usable for my needs, yet light enough to easily carry around every day. I think the size would be easy for your clients to read, but it would certainly be bigger and heavier for you to lug.

I know I'm stating the obvious, but I thought some kernel in there might be useful

As an alternative to a briefcase, trunkfull of tech manuals, and portable computer ...not to mention the paper pads for drawing and making notes ....the big guy has my vote. The screen is big enough for several people to view together but the little guy would have to be passed from hand to hand.

...just an addon to Dr. T's comment, for the same reason..
