Can PPTP for VPN work on eDGe?

I am on vacation in China, and I ordered strongVPN service. Connecting to VPN always fails from eDGe, though eDGe provide such a function in the menu.

I have a Cisco router that does both PPTP and IPSec VPN. The eDGe will not connect to a Cisco IPSec VPN. This is a known limitation in Android 1.6. However, I can't get my eDGe to connect via PPTP either even though both my Win7 netbook and iTouch connect just fine. So, I'd say PPTP in Android is a bit iffy as well.
