not likely to see it before the 2.x upgrade.

Plus, it's stupid.

Multitouch is for marketing, i have an iphone and the only gesture that i use is zoom-pinch. On a 10" screen you don't need this.

zoom pinch could be useful for reading pdfs on the LCD side.

exactly.

Would anyone be demanding multi-touch, spin on your head and pinch, while using the thumb-lock to mix an appletini if that stupid iPhone didn't have multi-touch?

No. they would not.

Multitouch is necessary not for fancy zooming, but for fast typing, (you can use 10 fingers instead of one with multitouch display).
Anyway, unfortunally it's not possible with current eedge hardware.

borisb, thats right, but, FAST typing means that usually you press next key almost simultaneously while releasing previous key.

A tad off topic but since capacitive vs resistive touch has been brought up I have to mention my thoughts on the matter. I've learned that I greatly dislike the resistive touch since owning the Edge. Scrolling is extremely sluggish and frustrating (I hate trying to scroll and it selects a book instead, or your scrolling down and you release and it pops back up) and touching is somewhat inaccurrate (regardless of repeated calibrations). Scrolling is the worst issue, though. At this point I don't care if it supposed to save time with having the stylus in my hand. Its sluggishness really causes me to lose time and increase my frustration. I'd rather just use the tip of my finger and get snappy predictable response.

resistive and capacitive has almost same response time. But in case of virtual keyboard it's very depends on software and other hardware.

p.s. and it's possible to make multitache on resistive screen , but it required hardware manipulation http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/news/...tive_touch.php

StevenP, I'm totaaly agree.
I recalibrated LCD screen about 50times. But it doesn't help, so it's a real pain to replay on this forum (for example).
And trackball doesn't allow to scroll in many applications ;(

imho resistive screen in EDGE was very big misstake. For example I can fold EDGE to read e-book, but I can't put it on an uneven surface, 'cas it can damadge LCD screen.

Capacitive screens are nicer.

I agree that the edge LCD screen has some limitations..
Multitouch would be nice for some apps (like the NESOID app), where you might want to use both hands to play a nintendo-style controller.

Also, there are games on the iPad where two people can play on the same screen (such as air-hockey)
