I, for one, would love to be able to connect my eDGe to my Palm pre via bluetooth! I actually tried but, while it did connect and see my phone, it would not initiate a full connection which would give me 3G access in a spot with no wi-fi. Hope the updates come soon?

I am definately on board with that. Teathering phone 3G to eDGe via bluetooth would be awsome.

I would love to have access to data plans that made 3G/tethering an affordable option. Until then, it's very low on the priority list for me. I don't mean to sound harsh, but if there's a 3G version coming out later this year (and I'm pretty sure we all knew about that before our pre-orders shipped), and if 3G was really important to someone, s/he could have waited for the newer device. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for providing more features. I just find this to be a lower priority feature, since the next model will eliminate the need for it. And if it's a question of how to allocate time and money on these features, I'm hard pressed to find a feature I wouldn't value over the 3G/tethering.

This is currently my #1 feature request for the eDGe. Tethering can be supported via (a) Bluetooth (preferred), (b) USB (also a good option), or (c) peer-to-peer ("ad hoc") wifi network support.

Without direct 3G support, this is a killer feature, and may, in some ways, be better than direct 3G support as it does not require the purchase of a second Sim and data plan if you already have one.

I have thought seriously over the last month about getting a myfi device. I know that I can use it for many different things, but the cost of another data plan and the limits on data is what is keeping me from getting one. Verizon has the new Palm Pre with the myfi built in, wish my Sprint version had that!

Actually, it was advertised as an upgrade to the first generation model (which is why there is a SIM card slot). They silently removed this as a future add-on for the first model and revealed that it would be a included in new model. I had already pre-ordered before I knew this changed. $500 dollar is not something I throw around on devices every couple months, however, I am happy with the Edge even without the 3G.

Boris, as I recall it was advertised as an add-on. I did not say as a software update. My understanding was it would be a physical upgrade (USB key or something like that). I could have misread this back in early Nov of last year, though (around when I pre-ordered).

I bet you and I liked the Edge for similar reasons. : ) We are both software developers (I'm a Systems Architect but I still just like to call myself a programmer) and some of the technical docs and specs can get huge. I have around 15 development books on here so far (From ANTLR3, DSLs in Boo, C#, across the gamut to F#), PDF print outs for tech and requirement specs, web pages, etc. and I love it for taking notes during meetings.

I would like to see the eDGe being able to tether to another Android phone.

Just adding my wish for tethering support. I just hate the idea of having to pay for a data plan on BOTH my phone and another device. It just kills my soul.

Add me to the tethering wish list

I already have an Android phone with a data plan, seems silly to pay for another when I can tether for that odd emergency and no wifi around.
