Kingsley Amis
An interesting article here abut his short stories:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/b...ughing-at.html The complete short stories are available for Kindle, but fairly pricey. Nowadays his son Martin may be better known, but Kingsley was a literary lion of his day. He was a very close friend of the poet Philip Larkin. They first met as undergraduates at Oxford and met frequently and corresponded thereafter. |

Great article, thanks for posting the link. I lurve Kingsley Amis. I'm mostly familiar with his comic novels and Lucky Jim is one of my favorite academic satires, but I don't know his short stories at all, a situation that needs to be redressed.
I'd rather read Kingsley than Martin any day. Martin is a pretentious twit compared to his dad. |

I too share your memories of Time's Arrow! Really didn't need that little detail thrown in.
Thanks for the recommendation for Night Train - it sounds interesting. |

I've never read the son, but I've loved what I've read from Kingsley Amis — mostly his comic and espionage-ish novels. He made it look easy.

He wrote a sort of sci-fi book (really an alternative-history book) that is very good, called The alteration.
