$10 B&N Giftcard with Purchase of $100 Giftcard

Through June 5, if you purchase a $100 giftcard at the B&N website, you'll get back a $10 giftcard via email a few weeks later. A wrinkle or two to make it more interesting: make your purchases through Ebates.com and you'll get 4% back, both on the gift card and on books. And if you aren't an Ebates member, you can get another $10 B&N giftcard as a sign-on bonus.

Obviously this is of most interest to those who own a Nook (or a Pandigital reader), unless you're up to hijinks with DRM.

ETA: this is the only way I know to snag a discount on Agency books.

Oooh - good one! I'm in Ebates and I use the Nook reader on my iPOD, so no hijinks necessary.

I should have made it clear that giftcard purchases totaling $100 qualify; it doesn't have to be one giftcard.

You can also get agency pricing discounts with a B&N credit card - they give an immediate 3% back off ALL B&N purchases, including ebooks.

But 4% is BETTER.

BN Mastercard gives an immediate FIVE percent back on all BN purchases.

So ... if you go through Ebates, and use the BN Mastercard, you end up paying $91 for the $110 worth of gift cards (with the current promo offer). Then you can go through Ebates for your book purchases, and get an additional 4 percent rebate--which is an additional $4.40. So, when all is said and done, you pay $86.60 for $110 worth of BN purchases.

They have certainly improved their customer service as far as gift cards go. I got mine in a few minutes, on the weekend even. Last time I ordered one on the weekend I didn't get it until Monday afternoon. The last time I ordered one even during their business hours it took several hours.
