Edge Hackers Forum now up

Hello, this is my first post here, may be my only one. :]

I just want to announce the creation of a new forum for the Entourage Edge and Pocket Edge Dualbooks...which products, as you know, are about to be discontinued. In order to provide continued support and enjoyment (with the assumption that the official Entourage Edge forum will soon shut down) I've set up an unofficial forum intended to continue where the original forum leaves off. Here is the link:

This is a free message board service I've joined (runboard.com), and is free for anyone else. You must first join their service in order to participate.

I gain no financial or other reward for running this forum, except the sheer enjoyment of my love for my little Pocket Edge. My board is for /both/ products, however (the orignal 10" Edge, and its later creation, the Pocket).

The board is called "Edge Hackers Forum," and is good to go, right now. What minor tweaking remains has only to do with appearance and style, and will not affect any posts or participation that now ensue.

I am also in the process of downloading Entourage's entire forum, in order to preserve and archive all the useful comments engendered there. Anyone else interested in doing this themselves, I recommend the following freeware:

I'm having trouble subscribing to the forum's RSS feed, though. The link is being displayed as: http://bedgehackersforum.runboard.com/,format=rss Is that correct? Is it simply too new to be fully propagated yet?

I just checked out the RSS feed, and it installed w/o a hitch, into my RSS reader. The URL on the board's RSS link gave me:

http://bedgehackersforum.runboard.com/f7,format=rss

Perhaps your problem has something to do with the particular RSS application you use? I use RSS Ticker, which is a Firefox extension (or addon or plugin, or whatever the heck they call it).

If problem continues, best to post to my board, to be sure I won't miss it. And I will look into this further.

For some reason, my registering with Entourage's own forum never took. I tried subscribing two other times, but still it claimed I'm using the wrong password or username. For this reason, I've only been able to read the forum comments, but not post.

So if anyone here would like, please post my announcement at the top of this thread, to their forum at:

That way, more people will be aware of this new board, before the original forum shuts down, and they're caught floundering in a sea of lost users! :/

Tonight, I'll start some topics to make first-time visitors feel more comfortable.

I've signed up! couldn't get my short name, so added a 1.

PS @Filark...my Pocket Edge should be arriving tomorrow!! so excited! Tech has also answered me about the Version. It isn't 2.1 like the seller advertises it as. The Tech says: "The latest official release is Dingo 1.13 which is apparently comes with Android 1.6. There is no definite time for the Ermine full version release yet."
....I suppose that means the possibility of a full version still exists...we can hope.

Well, I just got banned from here, twice. I'll let you decide if you want to visit there, just know that the admin "Edgehacker" will ban you if you decide you don't like him advertising his forum as the "new" forum, or for that matter if you acknowledge that other boards exist for chatting about the edge. IMHO he is trying to isolate every new person that visits there(the second time I got banned was for mentioning the xda thread).

If any one wants to defend my viewpoint that people should be able to visit other boards please do(I'm not asking you to defend the other things I said, I realize I may be the only one that feels that strongly about that).

I have not deleted any of emusan's unkind trolling of my new board. So if you wanna see for yourself, just go to my "Welcome" thread under section "Miscellaneous". His rude remarks start on page 2 of that thread (and goes on to page 4). Or you can just dive into it, here:

Thanks for posting it so I could see the whole thing. I don't believe I have any interest in your board as I don't believe your actions were appropriate and becoming of a moderator. If that's the tone of the board and how we can expect things to be handled, I'm not interested.

I'll be quite happy with emusan right here.

I know I was a bit rude, but have you read my posts, I was beginning to believe that I was a bit mean, but looking back at them I too believe that he did go overboard(also note that this was an exchange between me and him only until he dragged other into it, had I known that those forums had a PM system I would have used it, it is rather hidden):

Do we really need ANOTHER board for the edge, I've seen this kind of stuff kill off communities before, why let it happen with the edge? We already have the official edge forums, the xda forums, and the mobile read, why do we need another? I too have been backing up the official forums, and should they go down I will mirror them on my own server, I don't see why we need this, its only spreading the community apart.

The official forum will probably shut down within a few days. I'm glad you're saving the archives from there, as they may prove to be highly useful. The official forum has provided the best support and community for the Entourage Dualbook, there is no other board that even comes close, and that includes the ones you mentioned.

So, rather than killing off the eDGe community, I am attempting to keep it going at full blast.

Should for some reason, the original forum not shut down, I will close down my own board. However, that seems unlikely, and it's better to make eDGe users aware of this new forum, before the official one shuts down. Don't you agree?

PS: By any chance, do you have a framed needlepoint plaque hanging up somewhere in your kitchen or living room, that declares (in pretty shades of pink, blue and green):

This I find to be quite rude, and is assuming many things about me that simply aren't true. You can read the rest of the thread, but I think you might find that he was a bit off(you are entitled to you own opinion of course, just my thoughts).

Not only rude, but presumptuous. Who is this guy? Where has he been for the last year? Why don't we know him?

I mean, I'm the furthest thing from an elitist, but how do you just jump into someone else's community and say, "I'm here to save the day!" ... and then alienate its members? Who thinks that's a cool way to operate?

I tried to post a few pertinent questions, start a couple of threads...trying to help get the forum going a little bit.

I got banned for a PM exchange I had with him...no profanity or name calling, just a different opinion from ezekielk, & calling him out (privately, mind you!) on his methods of dealing with said opinion.

Unbelievable. And yes, I'm pretty sure there are more banned members now than not! With an admin like that the board is pretty much guaranteed to be a flash in the pan.

lol yeah, I saw that you were banned... I was scratching my head as to why until now. It would seem as though he also deleted a thread about styli, which I had also posted in with my third account(which is now banned, don't know why, maybe for posting links to official forums?), I guess he deleted the thread because we were both in it...? Or maybe due to the links to the official forums... Anyway, I'm not going to bother creating another account unless someone really needs help there.

After seeing how he hijacks his own threads & how he is now getting into religious tirades, it seems to me that he is probably a new eDGe owner who saw an opportunity to create a forum where people would come & he could argue & spout his anti-Christian rhetoric.

He was ready to go back & forth a dozen times with emusan (and with me...even after I was banned!) as long as it was in the public forum, but when I called him out away from the threads via PM he had nothing to say...a civil private discussion obviously didn't serve his interests.

Again, goodbye & good riddance.
