Merging 2 Library's
Hi
The main library I use on the office pc is called "books". On my laptop I have a library called newbooks. I some times use my laptop for new books and to get the metadata and cover. I then save the newbooks folder to my usb key. This folder contains 3 files, book.epub, a cover.jpg and mtadata.opf I then plug this into the office pc and use "Add books" to add the new book to the "books" library. The problem (if it is a problem) is it looses all the metadata and cover. I have to get the metadata and cover again. Am I doing something wrong? By the way I use version 8.2. |

Thanks for reply theducks
I can make a new library on my usb key. I add new books and get the metadata. When I plug the USb key into the pc how do I "copy from" to transfer that book to my pc library. When in "Choose your calibre library" I select "Move currently library to new location" I get an error box saying "The location C:\...... contains the current library". I see no option to "copy from" in calibre. Thx |

OK I was a bit premature.
I done the test on my laptop. Cannot get to the office pc at the moment. Calibre has the USB folder in its library and I can switch from USB folder to laptop and visa versa. But if I don't have the USB plugged in and I select the USB folder in calibre on the laptop it reconizes that its not available and deletes it. Therefore I cannot see it even though there are books in the USB folder when I check. I found the solution... (I will post this for other people who are stuck) Click on "Choose calibre library to work with" In "New Location" select the USB folder that was deleted Select "Move current library to new location" The USB folder is now available and selectable. |

Ok continued...
Plug USB into office pc Open calibre Select "switch create library" Select the location of the books on the USB. Select "Use existing library at the new location" Click OK. The USB library will open and you can now transfet the boooks to the Office pc library. |

If you are allowed to use dropbox on your work computer you can just make a 2nd library on it that is synced with your laptop and you can import from it.
