Problem displaying selected items

For some reason suddenly when I select one item, like an author or a format in the left hand tree, rather than filtering the main window and showing only those items it's just highlighting items that match my selection. Any ideas?

you must have accidently hit the second button to the right of the 'go' button. hit it again.
