Kindle ebooks price alarm?
Hi,
I am a happy user of a price alarm app on my ipad that tells me each day, which apps have been reduced to make a deal. I was wondering if something similar exists for kindle ebooks. I would love to get a price alarm if the prices of interesting ebooks are reduced. "Interesting" books could be for example books that have been on the New York Times Bestseller list at some time. I am not interested in 99c junk books. Is anyone aware of such an application/site? Thanks, Jens |

Ereaderiq lets you specify specific titles. I think that's the only option.

Thanks for the link. However, I am a bit underwhelmed by their
search functionality. You can specify a lot of search parameters such as max price. But these parameters are just ignored. |

ereaderiq is the best. You can import an entire Amazon.com wishlist. I have a wishlist of over 500 titles that ereaderiq is tracking for me.

I use and love ShoppingNotes http://www.shoppingnotes.com/. You can use it for anything, not just books, and it e-mails you when the price changes or you can set it for a target price and it will e-mail you when that price is offered.

Umm... that's pretty stereo-typical. There are lots of books that are under a $1.00 that are much better than some of the 14.99 books out there. Just because an author chooses make the price of their books low does not reflect the content or quality of writing. In fact Amanda Hocking has most of her e-books for .99 cents and she has just singed a publishing deal which will make her more well known, as well as increase the price of her writing. Why would you want to wait until a book rises up in price to buy it? Jason Letts some awesome work out for .99 cents such as his powerless series or the Inevitable series. There's also Brandon Alston, Tess Oliver, you get the point the list goes on and on. Just seems odd to me that you are wanting price watch for reduced books, but you aren't willing to give the books which are already low costing a chance....

I totally agree here. I buy 99 cents books all the time from Amazon and Smashwords. Alot are previously published books that were out of print and I have bought a few indie authors I've enjoyed.
I'm currently reading an Indie book and it's pretty good and I paid $1 for it on Smashwords. ![]() I use Ereaderiq but I wish I could log in and see all the titles I am watching instead of having to import my wishlist each time. I really wish Amazon listed the kindle ebook price in their wishlist instead of the all options button. |

I just think it's odd that they are wanting an app to let them know about prices, however refuse to consider books that are already fairly cheap.

I agree that 99c books are not generally junk. In fact, the project gutenberg library is for free and comprises some of the best literature. But when I look at the cheap ebooks on amazon I usually discover romance books, very simple detective stories or religious literature that do not sound too thrilling to me. Obviously, there are quite a few gems out there in the sub 5$ range. I might actually have a look at it. However, given my limited time I would not like to waste it reading "junk". Apart from that it does not make much sense to find out that a 2$ book has been reduced to 1.50.
By the way: is there a good book review site for these low price indie books? Do they make it into the big newspapers? I really like the app ticker application on the ipad and I would love to see something similar for ebooks: http://itunes.apple.com/en/app/appti...356155999?mt=8 Last edited by oecherprinte; 05-31-2011 at 04:58 AM. |
