Tag appears in News category

A tag unrelated to News or recipes shows up in the News tree of the tag browser. It's a tag that I add to all books added to the library. Is there a way to remove the tag from the news section of the tag browser?

No. Calibre assumes that if an item has the tag News, then all other tags on that item are related to News. There is no way to modify this assumption short of changing the code.

Thanks. Removing the tag from all news items removed the tag from the news section of the tag browser.

I guess the tag will come back after a news download, unless I stop adding a tag to all new books. This seems like an unintended consequence of the "add tag to new books" feature.

Actually, news downloads don't have the tag added to them after all. Maybe they did in an older version, or maybe I manually added the tag to some news items, which made the tag appear in the news section. Anyway, thanks for explaining - everything works now.
