CBR/Z character-support for inner filenames

More and more I get errors reading cbr / cbz files.
Pages not shown (only the blue ?)

When I open the files in winrar, the problem (almost) always is the filename of the pictures.
If it is not in [-A-Za-z0-9_ .] (dot like \.) calibre can't open the file.

Is it possible to add more characters?
I had some foreign letters (Alpha, Beta) but also often a # (in comic / magazine series)
Support of this would be very appreciated

Keep up the good work!

calibre supports non ascii characters in filenames just fine, when they are properly encoded in the zip file in UTF-8. If they are not so encoded, then calibre has to guess their encoding and that guessing can fail.

so that's the point.
That makes live more easy. I just have to rebuild the zip / rar with right encoding.
Wouldn't that be a easy task for calibre to do during import? Or is that a very heavy task to perform (in that case maybe an indicator of encoding type so you can manual perform this action?)

The problem is calibre does not know the right encoding to start with, so there's no way to fix it automatically. You could in theory have a plugin that allows the user to specify an encoding and then the plugin fixes the file names, but such a manual step would not fit well with calibre's normal workflow.
