Do you read in direct sunlight?

I ask because, as much as I LOVE LOVE LOVE my e-ink reader, I am always a little baffled when they tout "reading in direct sunlight" as such a great benefit. Even if I were sitting on a beach or by the pool with a pina colada in my hand, I would rather be under an umbrella. Maybe that's just me. But for regular reading... I do it indoors!

Once in a while, mostly in spring or in the early mornings in summer (when the sun's heat isn't that hot yet). But I also always wondered about that. It's never "perfect for reading outside", but "perfect for reading in direct sunlight"...

Every now and then; not as much as I used to when I was growing up and had more time for reading.

You don't get sunburn? Or tired eyes from reading in direct sunlight? The OT wasn't talking about reading outside, but sitting directly in the sun, not in the shade...

Once in a while.
I do try to stay out of sunlight most of the time (although I like rose color on things, it's not very becoming on people

), but I also need much light when I'm reading. So I try to get the sunlight to light up my reader, not burn my skin...

If the weather is nice, I go in my backyard and I read there.

I love outdoors, so I do read outside as much as I can.

Once in a while. The window of opportunity for reading outdoors here is small. Once summer thinks about starting (which happens to be in about March), it's not too welcoming to sit out in the sun and read for too long. You wind up turning into a lobster.

I haven't done much so far, but then it's been rather cold and wet where I live til recently and I just got my Kindle a few months back so it's more that the weather hasn't been amiable to reading outdoors til recently than anything.

No. I'm not out there that long -- mainly in the car, waiting in the parking lot, with the sun shining directly through the window. My husband seems to always find the parking spot that exposes me to the most sun.

When I was younger I read while fishing with my parents -- no shade there either, in the middle of the lake!

I sit outside at lunch and read during the week and on weekend mornings I sit on my deck and read. Both locations are in direct sunlight.

I usually don't read directly in the sunlight but I did this week. I sat in a lounge chair in my front lawn reading my nook. I was surprised though that part of my forearms (they were exposed) were tanned after only 1/2 hr-45 mins in the sun! So I don't see myself doing that often.

I read in the sun as much as I can. It's been a long winter so I soak it up. I love it.

I do try to stay out of sunlight most of the time (although I like rose color on things, it's not very becoming on people ), but I also need much light when I'm reading.
