If you are seeing a "?", then it's possible that the character in not in the font that ADE is trying to use.

You could try embedding a font in the epub that you know has that character and use it for your text.

Not just possible - almost certain.

Yes, I get that. But shouldn't an ePub reader support UTF-8 and with that, the weird looking n? Like this
And
Is it even possible to embed a font in ADE?

The reader supports it, but if the glyph is not present in the font being used to display the book, the reader substitutes the "?" to indicate that it can't display the correct character. Unicode fonts rarely, if ever, contain all possible Unicode characters.

Hi,

this is @k-risc from Twitter. I am not sure what your further question is.

Questions were whether ADE supports UTF-8 and whther it supports embedded fonts. Both have been answered by others with yes.

Now I am wondering how to help forther. I have attached an WPUB that contains embedded fonts and just one html file the is UTF-8 encoded.

I copied the contents of the table from http://www.slovo.info/testuni.htm, erased the third column with the images and placed the rest in that html file.

I attached the resulting EPUB and a screenshot of how this EPUB is rendered in ADE on my machine.

I hope this helps and answers any questions that are still open. Let me know...

Best regards,

Christian
