Liars For Jesus (PDF) - FREE from the author
Liars For Jesus: The Religious Right's Alternate Version of American History is free from the author (I don't know for how long). Download link is at the bottom of her blog post. The book is billed as a history textbook (not a light and fluffy read).
The Amazon page (for reviews and synopsis or if you want to buy it anyway). |

Wow, what a very effective title. But it was her passionate blog post that convinced me to download it. I'll give it a read, and certainly suggest others to buy it if it's good.

That's great. I have the paper version, but I've dl'd the pdf and am letting others know. I understand why she's doing it. I only watched the televised version of Barton's TDS interview and I felt like I needed a shower. I can only imagine how frustrated Ms. Rodda must feel, having watched the whole thing after all the work she's done.

I've had the displeasure of watching the extended interview, which made me look for Barton's so called "facts", and I stumbled on her site.
I'm glad she's doing it, and I hope this thing gets enough circulation so people would be able to easily fight those liars. |

Thanks so much for the link to the download.
I was amazed to find the free file was still available, then read Rodda's blog entry as to why. The decision to offer her book for free couldn't have been easy when physical copies were still being sold on Amazon and elsewhere. |

The file works perfectly well on my Kindle, but my Sony PRS-350 won't even recognize it. Since I've opened other PDF files on my Sony in the past, I'm not certain why this is.
Otherwise, the book looks quite interesting. Ironic, to see someone who is self-taught prove endless inaccuracies in the work of someone who claims to be a credible historian. Norman Finkelstein would approve. Last edited by Prestidigitweeze; 05-29-2011 at 06:45 PM. |

Thanks for that. I downloaded the book again and copied it to my 350 which can now open the file.
So far, the book's good as a reference source. You read the introduction and worry it will be yet another homely self-publishing experiment. Then you get to the text and find it's both useful and exhaustive, and is by a person who is either a trained library researcher or has the gift. Thanks! I grabbed the Kindle version in support of the author. Had to confirm it wasn't leaflet size first.

I copied the azw from my kindle to my PocketBook 360 with a .mobi extention and the PB 360 opens it just fine with working table of contents and footnotes. So any e-book reader that can open .mobi files should be able to do just fine with the file straight from Amazon. Since there are no digital restrictions to strip, this file can be converted to epub, fb2, or whatever without the conversion tool having to deal with digital restrictions. So just about anyone with an e-book reading device should be able to buy this e-book from Amazon and read it on their device. I bought the e-book as a reference and to show support. I thought that I would never actually read it through, but I am finding it very readable and have read the first four chapters so far. I am so glad to see an author presenting her side of an issue with full documentation and discussion. I hope she gets all the support needed to complete the other two volumes and to provide reward beyond mere compensation for all her hard work. |
