Just an aside, in world of abundant free and cheap ebooks, one of my selection criteria is if there is a typo in the Author's own short summary blurb, then it does not bode well for the rest of the book.....
Lord knows I do not bother to edit and correct most of my forum posts, but a short first impression to entice readers is one place I'd think you'd want to proofread really well....

Hi ApK - you're welcome.

I couldn't agree more with you about the typos: if the author didn't bother to clean up the synopsis, what are the chances that the rest of the novel is well written? 5%? Less?

Moreover, if the outline has any phrasing similar to "s/he felt like [fill in with your choice of verb]," the book is sent straight to the never-ever-read folder. (And there are more of these novels than one would hope to find.)

I know that some deals are worse and some are better than others... But after reading some dreadful/awful/literary-frightening books that came with hundreds of FABULOUS reviews, I decided to list everything and let folks decide for themselves what they like and what not.

There is also the old saying, "you get what you pay for." If via an offer such as at Smashwords you get a book for free I think that things come out about equal. While an author should strive to avoid errors in their writing if it doesn't cost the reader anything to get a copy the writer might also have the mentality that the errors don't matter. You see it happen in Fan Fictions often enough certainly. I remember reading one where the words looked more like IM language than English. i.e. b4 for before etc. I don't think I ever did finish reading that one.
