Just finished "Blood of the Wicked" (Leighton Gage), and enjoyed it very much indeed.
A well written, very topical - & all too plausible - plot set in Brazil, which is a change of the more well-worn paths. Gage backs this up with a great central character, Mario Silva, a Chief Inspector in the Brazilian Federal Police, confronted by the conflict between the landowners and the landless. Allied to this, he comes up with an excellent supporting cast, including a couple of splendidly monstrous creations in Colonel Ferraz, and Orlando Ortiz, a (very) wealthy landowner. Things rattle along at a great pace, and well worth a look. ![]() |
