New York Times stories a day behind?

I've been very pleased to find the the Nytimes.com paywall has yet to affect my beloved Calibre feed, in so far as I continue to receive what appears to be a complete feed of all the sections, far more than 20 articles every day, not to mention per month. HOWEVER, I have noticed recently that articles are mostly a day old. I just looked at my morning download; it's 9:30 pm EST on April 20th; but all of the articles are from April 19th. Has anyone else had this same problem? I don't think it used to do this... Thanks |

Interesting. I'm guessing there's a problem over at the NYT website beacuse the "Today's Paper" link shows the content from the day before. Until they fix this you can get today's content by setting webEdition=True and oldest_article=1 and saving the recipe as custom.

I see the Today's Headlines link has the same problem.

OK, I checked the "today's paper" tab against my Calibre download, and actually, they're the same... so I don't think there's anything wrong with the site. It's just that I was comparing the web edition to the download before, so of course they were different. The actual date on the stories from April 21 is in fact April 20th, but I'm guessing that's because the stories were first published in the web edition on the 20th, then appeared in the print edition on the 21st. Of course, since I live in Taipei, by the time I read my Calibre download, the print edition is 18 hours old, and the stories themselves are more than a day old, so changing the recipe to download the web edition does sound like an interesting option. I've never edited (or created) a recipe before... Is there a primer for that someone could direct me too? Thanks! |
