newsweek download error
been getting an error with newsweek for a while now, been ignoring it, only thread I see here seems unrelated, partly because I never had used calibre back when that issue happened.

Recipe doesn't work if "title" is changed via custom recipe
I just submitted a bug report on this.
I, too, have been unable to download Newsweek for some time, even with the built in recipe. But did notice this morning that the recipe worked. I guess that is the "fix". However, I have always added a custom recipe with just the title changed to "Newsweek online" to avoid confusion with and replacement of the Amazon Kindle edition to which I also subscribe. (The calibre version contains more articles and retains older articles from the web) So now the built in recipe works, but changing the title still causes it to fail by "finding no articles". EDIT: just got reply to bug from Kovid. Seems I am customizing an outdated recipe. I seem to recall reading somewhere that when using built-in recipe (in this case, in version 7.56, latest) calibre actually checks online for updated recipe, which must be why the non-customized version works? But customizing the built-in (offline) recipe does not allow for finding a newer version during the download process. Only explanation I can think of. Last edited by mkgtu; 04-20-2011 at 12:32 PM. |
