News Downloads Auto Saved To Root Folder, in EPUB Format
Please offer some advice?
I've been struggling to find a way to do the following: --- automatically convert all NEWS downloads (around 25 sources) to EPUB format; --- automatically transfer these from the default Calibre folder, to a folder in the root of my harddisk -- say C:\news -- all news EPUBS dumped into this one single directory. The key here is "automatically." I understand how to do it manually. I'd like to have Calibre do this continually, as NEWS comes in. Thanks, Nicholas Kormanik p.s. -- dear moderators, please place this thread in the appropriate section if another seems better. thanks. |

The news will be downloaded in the format you set as your preferred output format (preferences->behaviour). As for saving them automatically, they are sent to the first connected device automatically, so you could try to connect a folder as device and see if they are sent- there's a tweak to automatically connect to a folder on startup.

Good.
Is there a tweak to automatically delete the files from the Calibre Library once the files have been transfered to the "folder device"? Or must that be done manually? |

Also, on the above question, if we have to do it manually, is it okay to simply highlight and hit the delete key to remove all the news items piling up in the Calibre Library, or must we go through "Send to device -->Send and delete from library-->Main Memory"?
Will hitting delete additionally delete the items from the "folder device" (wouldn't want that to happen)? |

You have to read the whole thread to understand what the objective is here.
I'm talking about NEWS items. Hundreds and hundreds. Stacking up in the Calibre Library. And I wanted them to be AUTOMATICALLY transferred to a particular NEWS folder in the root of the hard disk. OUT of the Calibre Library. The advice suggested above by the earlier advisors accomplishes it perfectly. |
