Hi eBook readers:

I'm working with a national One Laptop per Child program in South America. We're transferring 1500 PDF books from local and international authors into EPUB. Everyone here is a fan of Calibre for managing and converting the eBook library.

It looks like I will need to dig into Calibre's source code to fine-tune their conversion process. For example, several books for the younger kids have an image as the background of a page, and in EPUB the text is separated and placed below the image. I'm familiar enough with CSS to fix this by hand, but that isn't practical to do with every book.
