Free previews
I asked this question in my other thread but I think it got buried amongst other questions and no one saw it.
Is it possible to read the free previews of Borders.com books on a Kobo? I can read them on the iPhone app but they will not download to my Kobo. |

i have not.
are you talking about the 'openers' that are available on a book. i use kobobooks so not sure how borders works but i'm guessing its the same way. i highly doubt there is a way to download the book off of the site and load it to the kobo. by having it online or through the desktop app only they can lock parts of the book and let you read the quick preview in hopes that you fully purchase it, at which point you can download and send to the device. |

I was hoping to be able to put a few on my Kobo. Seems kind of ridiculous that this can't be done, as the previews are an essential part of the book-buying process. When I buy a paper book, I open it up and read the first few pages to see if I'll like it. If a book is sealed in plastic so I can't see it, I usually won't buy it because I don't know what I'm getting. Same with ebooks. |

The free previews on Kobo's website usually don't get past the copyright page - not very helpful! I don't know any way to view them on the Kobo.

I have bought extensively from Borders in the past and I have never encountered them allowing you to get a preview of the novel. That said what I typically do is go to Amazon and look up the book and look for the Google Preview and read a few pages there before buying from Borders or Amazon. When I used my Libra Pro I would read the preview at Amazon then buy from Borders. Now that I use my Blackberry Storm, it makes little difference if I buy from Amazon or Borders so I tend to be a bit mroe agnostic about it.
