Calibre installation on Ubuntu 8.0.4
Is there a reasonable way to install the latest Calibre version with Ubuntu 8.0.4 LTS? I am getting issues with libqt3.
In general: is it possible to install the command-lines utilities only - In my case I don't have need for the UI? |

I think you mean Ubuntu 8.04 LTS.
I installed calibre 0.7.4x on Ubuntu 8.04 LTS using the binary install method, but couldn't make it work, probably for not meeting all the necessary dependencies. Some days after that, I upgraded (online) Ubuntu to 10.04 LTS and calibre started working, even though I hadn't re-installed it. While I had Ubuntu 8.04 LTS, earlier versions of calibre didn't recognise my Sony PRS-505 (because of some "deprecated" thing in the kernel), but now it does. Note: you can install calibre from the Synaptic packet manager, but the version they make available is quite old. |
