Not sure what I'm doing wrong
I'm trying to make a book with both of Homer's books "Iliad" and "Odyssey" in one volume and I get the table of contents to work just fine but even though I wanted the Titles of the two books to be part of the TOC neither title appears when I have made the epub and converted it to Mobi. The chapter #'s show up properly but not the actual book titles.

Use Sigil. Use h1 tags for the title and h2 tags for the chapters. Have Sigil create th toc. Edit the generated toc as necessary. Then use calibre to convert to MOBI.

I have been using Sigil and Calibre. I did what you suggested with the tags and it's still cutting off the titles for some reason.

![]() In Sigil Change the h2 tags to h3, then change the h1 to h2 and see if that works BTW Didn't Calibre add a setting to control processing of sequential tags? You might disable this feature on the books conversion screen. |

I hate ADE. Thankfully I don't have an ADE device so I don't have to worry about its issues.
No idea. I don't normally deal with EPUBs or using calibre to build TOCs... Saying use Sigil tends to be easier for people than saying, you need to look at the markup and then write a regular expression... |

Ah. Calibre caues page breaks on h1 tags. This turns h1 ino h2, h2 into h3 and so forth to prevent the page breaks.

If you don't get an error message, let the conversion run for as long as it may run. If you have a seriously messed up source file, conversion can take as long as a few hours.

There are the rare complicated ePubs that can literally take hours to convert. You can click on the jobs in the lower right and view the job details for the book you're converting to see what is happening.

Thanks. I guess I'll just have to wait then and hope the end result is what I'm hoping for.

lol. Well I have my desktop (that I'm doing the ebook on) and my netbook so I'm covered there. I'm starting to think there must be something wrong with the book file though because it's been over 7 hrs and it is still only at 1% done.

Did you get an error message? I'll admit that 7 hours at 1% seems odd, but I'd suggest looking at the job details to see what Calibre is doing.
The longest conversion I've personally had was about 24 hours, so I'd say you're good. |

It says it's "fixing the hypenated content" so I guess it might just be the fact that it is a large file to go through. I'm trying to make a omnibus of 5 of H.G. Well's books at the moment. So I guess that from what you say it might just be taking its time to make sure all is well.
