Expression?
Is there an expression or a way to take out the "The" in the names of the books . Such as
The adventures of ................ and have instead showing - Adventures of ............, for the title of the books in the main list in Calibre |

Thank you! I selected - Control sorting of titles and series in the library display in tweats and applied but the "the" is still there.

The tweak only changes it for the Title_Sort value - not the displayed one.

I tried - Control formatting of title and series when used in templates - nothing happened.
When I asked about expressions (?) I should have said that I have never used them and don't understand how to do them. I read some of the Calibre manual and read about expressions there, but they are beyond me. I am sorry you are dealing with a newbie... Last edited by TwinmtnNH; 03-25-2011 at 11:29 AM. |

Expressions are patterns that define how various filters will (should
![]() There are are different expressions for: import (add books) Conversions export (Save to...) Plug-Boards Search and Replace Don't worry too much about them (until you are ready to change one). Read the users guides, then if you need help, Ask. Present Examples (post no copyrighted documents please) 1) of what you are starting with 2) what you would like to end up with ![]() |

Thank you for explaining without making me feel stupid.
From the answers I think that what I asked first cannot be done as yet in the tweaks, meaning taking the "The" out of the title in the display of titles? |

You can control sorting with or without "The" and you can remove it entirely (search and replace), but you can't leave it in, but not show it.
