If so is life as exciting as John Grisham makes it out to be? If so I think I may change careers and become a lawyer How many times when you were in law school did you wright a brief that almost got you killed? How many crooked firms have you hung out to dry? And have you been bribed to steal info yet

Oh, we have a few lawyers, but all of them go by the rule that they can't give legal advice out of their jurisdiction. And since MR is a global forum, they're always out of their jurisdiction!
Besides, the practice of law is made up of a lot of specialties. We have lawyers, but not necessarily ones who specialize in copyright. You will find that for example, divorce lawyers know divorce law but are as helpless as you or I when it comes to law relating to the IRS auditing you.

I read The Firm last August.

I could (for purposes of reading the book) accept the book's main idea that the law firm was a front for the Mafia, but there was nothing believable about the protagonist. He was too perfect in every way.
