Can't update Calibre beyond 0.7.42
I have attempted to update a few versions since 0.7.42, including 0.7.50 last night. The update appears to complete, but when Calibre is launched from the installer the version number on the bottom left still reads 0.7.42*, and there is a download link on the bottom right to the newest version. I have uninstalled and reinstalled, uninstalled and attempted to delete the c:\program files\calibre2 directory (however, the uninstaller appears to remove this directory), uninstalled, rebooted, and reinstalled. None of these has had an impact. I'm not sure what else I can try at this point.

You setup a calibre development environment at some point. Remove it (unset the CALIBRE_DEVELOP_FROM environment variable)

The * after the version number indicates that you are running from source, not from the installed binaries. It is there specifically to remind you of the fact you are running from source.
