I would like to clarify for everyone who reads Alexander's great website what is available for folks at ePolitics as I am/was editor of it. 1. Definitely a conservative slant on the news stories and editorials offered. 2. Links to columnists that are both conservative, liberal, and mainstream such as David Broder (mainstream leaning liberal), Matt Drudge (muckraker leaning conservative), Mort Kondracke (hard to pin down but is generally more liberal than conservative), and Robert Novak (reliably conservative). 3. Online poll that is currently out-of-date asking a straight-up question about when people thought the Iraq war would end. 4. Links to many websites. If you select "Any" and click "Search" you get 492 websites, most of which are direct links to newspapers, academic groups, liberal and conservative interest groups, and political science departments at U.S. universities. Other websites were included when submitted. The ePolitics site is being shut down. I simply do not have time to keep it up-to-date with a cute toddler taking up much of my time lately. The PalmPolitics site will likely carry one commentary (yes, conservative), no poll, and an up-to-date list of the current members of the U.S. Congress free of charge. The product that sUnShIne lists is one of my competitors. It runs the same price as the Palm Congressional Directory ($14.95) unless you buy it from me directly using PayPal for $2 less. The main difference between the two (I own theirs as well) is that you get a static directory that is very large. It does not fit into your contacts folder like any other handheld contact. In my business, I work with Congress a lot and found it annoying to keep calling up the directory, so I did my own and now it's much quicker to access and it's where I want it. The nice thing is that you can add your own notes and use my Yahoo! group to keep it updated. Moreover, I do offer a lot of political information that the other product does not offer that is not very easy to find quickly. Free updates are offered for the whole year you own my directory. All of the information one might need on the U.S. Congress is in the public domain so you certainly do not need to by my directory. Moreover, on PalmPolitics you can get the information for free that both of us are selling. I offer it for free because I believe we should all have access to these folks, regardless of political party preference. If you are interested in who these folks are, or if you are planning a visit to Washington, you can know where these people who serve us work. My directory is essentially for professionals/activists/hobbyists who want the free information in a special format. The website is my take on the news and, yes it does slant to the right most often, although, I did vote for Clinton twice. Anyway, you make the call on my slant, you are certainly entitled to your opinion. So, please enjoy the free information. If you do not want my "news" feel free to access the directory for free (set your link to "0" so it's rant free) at: U.S. Senate (by last name) U.S. Senate (by state) U.S. House (by last name) U.S. House (by district) I might expand the PalmPolitics website to include the old links from the other site but that's in the future. Let me know what you think or if you are interested. If anyone has more liberal links, I'd be more than happy to list them in the update. Again, I only write this (way too long response) to clarify sUnShInE's post. I certainly did not mean to offend anyone by my original post. If I did so I apologize. The Congressional contact information is free on my site, please link to it and take your citizenship seriously, whatever your affiliation. And feel free to bypass the news if it is not to your liking. Cheers! Michael D. Cohen, Ph.D. Palm Politics |
