I'm with you. My K1 is failing. I did not want to be without so I ordered the K3. It is NICE. Now my K1 is just 'semi-retired.'

Not sure, and even if so if it would be cost effective.

I'd call CS. You may be out of luck, but they may give you a discount on a new one (or a very low price on a refurb K1 ... which you might be able to find for about $50 or less online, as well).

I just bought a K3 using a $75 credit from Amazon, for being an 'early adopter' / K1 owner. You have to call CS though - I emailed the request and they asked me to call.

The screen on that K1 is not failing. It's broken.

That said, you have my condolences on your tragic loss.

As for calling Amazon, you do have nothing to lose by calling and maybe you can get a discount or something. You won't know till you try.

It's a good thing I grabbed that Pandigital Novel while it was only 60 dollars. The Kindle app works well on it and it'll get me through the gap...
