40% off at borders
I get these coupons through email all the time for the B&M stores, but this is the first time I noticed it can be used online. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to apply to agency books.

Be mindful of the price when using it as it applies to the List Price not the Your Price it lists (if it does list one) so it doesn't come out as cheap.

That's one thing that always bugs me about their coupons. They're not always the bargain they first appear to be. |

![]() But that 40% coupon is really sweet on the vast majority of items in the store. A number of times, I've checked the price on Amazon, only to find that it was cheaper in the store with the 40% off. For example, there was an RPG supplement I was thinking of buying with the coupon last night, and it turns out that the Amazoin price is 34% (and Amazon is currently out of stock). (*) While grocery stores do often let you use coupons on already discounted items, I don't think that's the same thing as in many cases, they get compensated by the manufacturer. Besides, books aren't toothpaste, even if some of the CEOs of bookstores want to treat them in the same way. ![]() |

I shop at Joanns and AC Moore and they sometimes have coupons you can use on already discounted products. I do know that you can't use most coupons that way though.
I usually buy DVD sets from Borders with the coupons. I stopped buying books there a while ago unless it's something I need on paper - American Casino Guide, or a coffee table book. They don't let me use it on Sony Reader gift cards, so I buy DVD sets. I do end up saving a couple of bucks in the end but as said, they give you the discount on the List Price. |

I used the coupon to buy an ebook. It worked, they charged me, I got a confirmation email telling me to go to my e library to download my book. Problem is the book wasnt there. It does show up in my transaction history but not in my library for download. I called and was told to wait an hour for it to show up. I checked this morning and it still isn't there. I call back and after being on hold for two hours they took my number and said someone would call me within 48 hours. Needless to say I really regret buying from Borders. I wouldnt recommend buying ebooks from them.

I've been having problems lately with buying through their desktop app, but have never had a problem purchasing directly from their website. I've been buying from Border's lately rather then Kobo as a way of doing my part to help them get over bankruptcy (I would hate to lose our local store...it's the best local store around for technical magazines).

I submitted a customer support request via their online form, and it said they "strive" to handle requests within 24 to 48 hours. Not even an automated email acknowledging a customer service request had been submitted. So my first and last ebook purchase from Borders. I was planning to use the coupon for 3 or 4 books, if it let me... but I ended up buying the other 3 from Amazon instead. |

I used my coupon just a few minutes ago (via the borders web site...trying to order from the desktop app still isn't working for me :-( ). Immediately after purchase, I told the desktop app to update my library and it proceeded to download my new book. So, it's working on this end at least.

Excellent, I just picked up your book from Smashwords....may still buy it at B&N just to have it in my library.
