Best way to read manga on Kindle DXG?

Hi, I just recieved my Kindle DXG which I bought for reading manga and I'm really excited . I want to know what's the best configuration to view manga on Kindle DXG. I hear that mangle is a popular converter and I also hear that it is better to convert manga to pdf file.

When converting manga in mangle, what option should I be using to get the optimal picture quality for DXG? For example on Mangle there's couple of option like (dither images to match device pallete) should I be using that feature?

Also should I convert the manga to pdf after I convert manga with mangle? If so what program should I use to convert it?

EDIT: I also found calibre and canti which program is best for converting to DXG? Also is there any good pdf creators? All I could find was primopdf which installes spyware.

Cheers

i just used the default DX settings for mangle and it worked great. i use Duokan OS for reading comics tho as it seems faster and dosen't have the issue where some margins don;t clear properly.

I tried converting the manga for Kindle DXG using mangle and I converted that file to pdf using Pluto Comic2Pdf. I put the pdf manga into the documents folder, everything works fine now but the quality of the picture isn't as clear before been converted. ALso, the manga is in full screen but it's not taking up the whole screen. Is this what I should expect after conversion or is there a way to improve it?

Hi,i have some comics that are in mobi format.
Can you please tell me if with Duokan OS you are able to read comics in
full screen and i mean edge to edge picture without any white space around it.
Original kindle os is able to do that only with manual zoom(with little joystick) that is resetting every time you turn the page so because of that i find it useless.

Because png/jpg file is slow and buggy when you page turn backwards. JPG/PNG document can do full screen mode which trims the whitespace at top and bottom but not left or right. I also found out a shortcut[f] to disable or enable full screen mode for PNG/JPG file which is useful since fullscreen mode requires a reset to work everytime you go back to PNG/JPG document.

I'm actually went back to png file since it displays slightly clearer picture than pdf. But I'm still not satisfied with the quality of the picture haven't found out a way to trim whitespace around left and right column.

Does anyone know how to trim left and right column and what's the best format for viewing image on Kindle?

I see. that's why you need Duokan. it's been designed for pdfs and manga viewing. if you use it you won't need to convert to pdf as it suffers from none of those problems.

it's really no problem to install, you won't regret it if you read allot of manga.

Thank you I'm trying to install duokan right now but I'm having problems I have followed the website http://flip.netzbeben.de/2010/11/duo...ish-gui-today/ for installation.

I've copied DK_documents, DK_Pictures and DK_Systems into the root directory. It also tells "Also copy all the .bin files from the corresponding subfolder in 升级包 (e.g. k3升级包 subfolder for Kindle 3) in the archive to the Kindle root." I just went to the 升级包 folder then to the DXG升级包 and extracted the .bin file and copied to the root directly. Did I do it correct? Because when I copied the .bin file (update_dk_09) into the root folder and restarted kindle I recieved a message "the update was not succesful".

Also my kindle version is 2.5.5 I heard that firmware 3.1 won't be able to install duokan but as long as I don't put 3g on it should't automatically update to 3.1 right?

BTW my Kindle DXG is an internation version(serial number B009)soI should still be copying B009 .bin file right?

okay somehow even though it said "the update was not successful", I can now change to duokan os from reboot which is good

My first impression is, it's great for image files(e.g. PNG) because it makes them automatically full screen. The quality is tiny bit worse than Kindle OS but not a big deal. They even have a navigation feature although is not as good as the pdf navigation.
What's a bit annoying is everytime I open a PNG manga in Duokan it doesn't remember where I left off so I have to manually goto the page number.

PDF on the other hand is more buggy(shows artifacts) which is a shame because PDF has better features to navigate manga with their goto page, progress bar and bookmark.

I just tried reading another manga and this time the quality was amazing! I guess that my other manga had poor quality so it didn't show too well. I can't thank you enough Max99 I will never go back to kindle OS again. I don't know if it's my Duokan OS that does ghosting on PDF files but if that's fixable that would make my manga viewing experience even better :P
